Midland Track & Field League – Fixture 2 – 4/6/2016

Last Saturday the club travelled to Burton on Trent to compete in the second fixture of this years Midland Track & Field League Division 6. Following on from our 6th position at the first fixture we took a team of 20 to try and improve on our overall league position.

On the mens side we had Billy Lovatt, Joel Clews, Paul Wakefield and Ian Goodfellow, whilst for the ladies, Gabby Trotman, Susan Twardochleb and Rachel Wakefield all made their season debuts. We also had Mark Cotton, Adam Fradley,  Jordan Nixon, Martin Bailey, Tim Twentyman, Charles Larsson, Darren Smith, Rebecca Twardochleb, Sophie Goodfellow, Laura Matthews, Amy Whitehurst and Julia Bailey. Wendy Fradley and Sue Twardochleb also scored valuable points by acting as Field and Track Judges.

Every position and point are important in the league and we filled most of the events (there are still opportunities for people to try the Pole Vault, Sprint Hurdles and Triple Jump – if you fancy competing in any of these events please talk to Julia about trying them before the next two fixtures!) There were A and/or B string wins for Joel (400m Hurdles and High Jump), Jordan (400m Hurdles), Sophie (400m Hurdles), Laura (400m Hurdles), Becky (1500m) and Rachel (3000m).

Our Results can be found  HERE  Thank you very much to everyone that competed for the club, we scored 354 points on the day (subject to verification) which was an improvement of 70 points!! This also meant we finished in an excellent 3rd position on the day! The next fixture is on Sunday 3rd July at Hereford – this unfortunately clashes with the Potteries Marathon. We know some athletes who have competed will not be available on this day but we really need more people to come and compete for the club, everybody is welcome!
