11 of our Junior/Senior/Masters men travelled down to Stratford upon Avon on Saturday to represent the club in the second fixture of this seasons Birmingham and District Cross country League.
Held on a tough 2 lap hilly course our men were looking to maintain or ideally improve their current league position (looking to gain promotion into Division 1 next season!)
Our first finisher once again was Lewis Nagington who was a fine 5th position (and 2nd Junior Man), covering the tough 10km in 37:20, next was Jacob Droogmans in 22nd (39:14 and also 4th Junior), closely followed by Chris Morgan, 23rd in 39:20. Tim Sharman was next in 28th (39:31), Matthew Basnett was 45th (40:53) and the returning Andy Walker competed our scoring 6 in 54th (42:01). Neil Gerrity was 10th (44:49), Martin Bailey 151st (47:13), Jon Ranford 164th (47:54), Mark Cotton 170th (48:39) and Pab Madox was 200th (51:57).
These results meant we finished 4th on the day scoring 177 points, and as we only had 11 runners unfortunately did not field enough to score a B team. Overall we remain in 3rd position with 322 points (just 17 off second/63 ahead of 4th).
The next fixture is Saturday 11th January at Coundon Hall Park at we need as many junior/senior/masters men to compete as possible – the results are really close this year and EVERYBODY is important in cross country no matter what your finishing position so please compete for your club and lets aim to get that promotion and create some new club history!
