Monday and Wednesday nights we have different paced groups leaving the club for approximately an hours worth of running. The club’s runners lead various groups. Groups will be running between 6 minute miles and 13 minute mile pace. The groups always run together and no one is left running alone at the back. All our running routes contain smaller and larger loops should runners wish to do a few miles more or a few miles less.
On Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday nights we have coached sessions for senior runners. Tuesday and Thursday nights at 6:30pm are coached by Martin Bailey which are a mix of hills, speed and endurance sessions. Under 15 and under 17 juniors are also coached in this group by invitation. Wednesday at 6:30pm is the Improvers session – aimed specifically for those who have completed a Couch to 5k courses or are returning to running after a break. It’s a great way to continue your journey as a runner.
Junior training takes place on Tuesday and Thursday evenings, also commencing at 6:30pm. The Junior Coaching team consists of Julia Bailey, Wendy Fradley, Vic Bevington, Kerry Taylor and Malcolm Hackney (who is also the Coaching Coordinator). Juniors are coached in throws, jumps and running disciplines, with the latter including sprint and endurance running. During January, juniors have the opportunity to compete in the Endurance Awards scheme and during July and August juniors take part in Athletics Skills Awards scheme.
On Sunday morning Coaches and members often organise their own long runs across the local area. Speak to one of the coaches or runners and we can point you towards a few groups that will suit you.
