Latest Covid-19 Club Update 4/6/2020

The Club’s Management Committee have continued to meet virtually during lockdown and following the latest England Athletics Guidance (issued on 1st June, based on the current Government Covid-19 advice on easing lockdown restrictions). It advises that groups of up to six people from different households will be able to meet outside from Monday 1 June whilst maintaining social distancing guidelines, staying 2m apart. Following this update the Management Committee would would like to give our members notice of the plans we intend to put into place in order to safely resume some club activities.

The information below can be found on the England Athletics Website by following this link. https://www.englandathletics.org/athletics-and-running/news/guidance-update-step-2/

Newcastle (Staffs) AC will have to follow the England Athletics protocols in order to at least partially open our facilities for training for members. This will require a significant amount of risk assessment and putting new operating procedures into place. The management committee is working towards offering club training for its Junior and Senior Members as soon as it is safe and appropriate to do so. Group runs can only be in a maximum of 6 and all Coaches will only be able to train 5 athletes at any one time.

All club competition has been cancelled. There will be no Heart of England Track and Field Fixtures, Midlands Track and Field Fixtures this season. Area and Age-Group Championships and Road Races are unable to take place until the 12th July (at the very earliest).

The Management Committee appreciates that not all athletes, volunteers, coaches may be able to, or wish to return to club training at this point and to be able to make effective plans we would like feedback as to when both senior and junior members would like to return to training sessions/nights at the club.

The Committee is meeting virtually again next Monday to continue this process and would appreciate members input by Sunday 7th June.

There will be a further e-mail update to members next week following Mondays Committee Meeting.
