Our Juniors travelled down to Banbury on Saturday to compete in the first fixture of this years Heart of England Track and Field League. Following the disappointment of last years relegation we went to attempt to bounce straight back up to division 3. In warm, humid conditions there were many, many PB’s and also some very intelligent racing to ensure maximum points. There were individual wins for Lucy Brownsword, Beatrice Wakefield, Louis Wakefield, Jacob Holdcroft, Lewis Nagington, Thomas Wood, Misha Twardochleb, Emma Li, Scarlett Cotton, Charlotte Moore, Elizabeth Clarkson, Jacob Droogmans, Jordan Nixon, Billy Lovett, Lola Cotton, Alysha Balderson, Alex Oakley, Jenna Jones, Wendy Fradley and Relay wins for the U/17 Girls and U/15 Girls. Fine performances also from Dylan Taylor, Stephen Hobson, Mathilde Wakefield, Nathan Holdcroft, Charlie Hobson, Nikki Crutchley, Vienna Shelley, Elizabeth Bridgewater and Rachel Wakefield. Everyone competed exceptionally well. All our results can be found by clicking here.
On the day we finished in a fantastic first position out of six teams, with age group victories in the U/11 Girls, U/15 Girls, U/17 Ladies & Women and the U/17 Men.
We need as many of our juniors as possible competing at the remaining two fixtures on Sunday 12th June (Leamington) and Sunday 10th July (Leicester) so please speak to your coach and Julia (team manager) to confirm your attendance. With an even better turn out we can ensure promotion! Thanks to the club for subsidising the coach travel, and again to the Coaches, Officials and Helpers without the help and support of whom our Juniors couldn’t compete.
