Midland Track & Field League

Saturday 25th April see’s Newcastle, newly promoted, first track & field senior league of the year. It is at Kidderminister. First event starts at 11.15am mens hammer, with last event at 5pm mens 4x400m.

This league is open to any Newcastle members under 17, under 20 and senior men and women. There is an A and B is all the events ranging from 100m to 3000m ladies and 5000m men, along with hurdles, relays, throwing and jumping events.

Our success last year came from having numbers of people out competing (i.e. two athletics in each event) and this is what I am hoping will happened again this year. You don’t have to be an experienced track athlete, if you fancy having a go, please let me know asap at michelle.buckle@outlook.com or message me on facebook which events you would like to try.  A declaration needs to be submitted to the league the night before so I need to know who is available please.

We also get points and points reduced for having, or not having officials. We are requested to supply 6 officials (1 track judge, 1 timekeeper, and 4 field judges which 1 must be level 2 or above). Again, if you can support the club here. 3 of our officials maybe unqualified, meaning it’s just holding measuring tape, writing results down, retrieving equipment so this is open to anyone and is only for a few events.

I’m sure those who went last year and have never competed on the track before will agree that it is a great experience. This is free as the club cover the cost of this league.

The other 3 fixtures are:

Saturday 6th June at Abingdon, Saturday 4th July at Burton and Sunday 9th August at Tipton
