Rebecca Twardochleb and Sophie Goodfellow were selected to represent Staffordshire in the Senior Women’s 10km race on Saturday at a blustery Prestwold Hall. Despite being U/20 for the rest of the season Becky and Sophie were in with the Seniors because this race is run by IAAF rules due to it being the trial for the World Cross Country Championships to be held at Aarhus at the end of March. Another challenge both athletes faced was running over a 10km cross country course as for the first time the Women and Men both raced over the same distance.
Becky and Sophie both raced well and were important members of the Staffordshire team which finished in 17th position. Becky finished in 90th position in 43:27 and Sophie finished in 177th in 46:24.
