We had one team of U/17 Women competing at Sundays National Road Relay Championships held at Sutton Park. Racing over the undulating 3.88km loop we had Nadine Tomkinson on leg 1, Misha Twardochleb on Leg 2 and Sophie Wood on leg 3.
On leg 1 Nadine was aiming to beat the 15:49 she ran two weeks previously at the Midlands Championships and she succeeded, knocking a massive 28 seconds off her time when recording 15:21! Next up on leg 2 was Misha Twardochleb, making a return to racing after the unfortunate car crash she was a passenger in on the way to the Midlands event two weeks earlier. Misha showed her customary grit and determination with a fantastic sprint finish recording 17:01, not her fastest time but great to see her back and ok. Our Final leg runner was Sophie Wood who was given the task of bringing the team home. Sophie didn’t allow nerves or the occasion to get to her and recorded a great time of 18:32 in her first experience of this level of competition. The team finished in a highly creditable 32nd position, Well done to you all.
